Chicago to host 2024 Democratic National Convention
Location chosen for its progressive policies and strong support for the party
The Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago in 2024, the Democratic National Committee announced Tuesday. The city was chosen for its progressive policies and strong support for the party.
“Chicago is a city that represents the best of America,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “It’s a city of immigrants, a city of workers, and a city of hope. We’re excited to bring the Democratic National Convention to Chicago in 2024 and showcase all that our party stands for.”
The 2024 Democratic National Convention will be the first to be held in Chicago since 1968. The city has a long history of hosting major political events, including the 1860 Republican National Convention and the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she is honored that the city will host the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
“Chicago is a city that welcomes people from all walks of life,” Lightfoot said. “We’re a city that believes in progress and opportunity. We’re excited to show the world what Chicago has to offer and to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2024.”
The 2024 Democratic National Convention will be held at the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks. The convention is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors to Chicago.
