Toronto FC has signed striker Cucho Hernández from the Columbus Crew for a club-record $10 million fee, the two clubs announced on Wednesday.

He is expected to make his Toronto FC debut on Saturday when the Reds host the New England Revolution at BMO Field.

Toronto FC in need of a goal-scorer

Toronto FC has been in need of a goal-scorer since Jozy Altidore left the club in 2021.

The Reds have scored just 21 goals in 19 MLS games this season, which is the second-fewest in the league.

Hernández is expected to fill that void and help Toronto FC make a push for the playoffs.

Hernández said he is excited to join Toronto FC and help the club achieve its goals.

"I am very happy to be here," Hernández said. "Toronto FC is a big club with a lot of history, and I am excited to be a part of it."

"I am looking forward to helping the team win some trophies and make the fans happy."

Hernández could make his debut on Saturday

Hernández is expected to make his Toronto FC debut on Saturday when the Reds host the New England Revolution at BMO Field.

The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. ET.
